Science Writing Article

This piece was written for a science writing course where we explored writing as a means of interpreting and disseminating scientific information. During the course of this class, I became interested in “pop science,” and the way it both helps and harms how we interpret information. I chose to write about the spotted skunk after a trip to the Oregon Coast, where we encountered one during a hike. For this article, I wanted to educate the reader about the spotted skunk while also making the content feel topical and entertaining.
